Alert: Cattle Ticks on the Move
Some outbreaks happening in clean country from Ironpot to Wondai.
If you have a suspected tick outbreak:
Suggested options:
Talk to DPI, muster your cattle, keep them in overnight. The ticks will become distressed and engorge making them easier to see.
Contact a third part provider for Tick inspections (there are a number in the area, including Bill Steffensen) who can suggest a treatment plan.
Advise your neighbours and make a plan together to control the outbreak. Third party providers will notify the DPI of the outbreak. It is not the end of the world to have a tick outbreak but controlling it is good management practice for yourself and the whole cattle industry.
